The release of 4.6 Beta has slipped a little and this is only because we are trying to make 4.6 even better.
We have been working on many areas of improvements, most noteably the on the installer, xHTML compliance and performance. We have implemented a number of other enhancements as well.
Developers of 3rd party enhancements can now bundle components, modules, mosbots and language files into a single .zip or tar.gz file
Newflashes database table has been merged into main content table
Admin interface redesign to improve performance
In-built help in administration in DocBook format
Code base can be put through phpDocumentor to provide a comprehensive Developer manual
Improved displaying of author and date on content
Added new function mosCurrentDate() to echo current time with offset
Full language support now available in administration
New function to allow editing of language files in administration
The useBanner config variable deprecated
Deprecated mosLoadComponent template function replaced with include_once("mainbody.php");

Upgraded DHTML Calendar library files
Added cache file support for DOMIT RSS in mod_newsfeeds. Newfeeds now store cache in media/tmp and not in the database
