 Joomla 01 designed by Alan Urquhart was the winning logo in Joomla logo contest that was held at Joomla forum during last week, the winning logo is going to be the official logo for Joomla CMS.
"I did have some thought behind the logo. I wanted to start with the letter "J" (obviously because joomla starts with a "J") and found that creating four "J"s and rotating the "J"s in 45 degree increments fit together like a puzzle. This also gives the impression of chain links intertwined together. Adding the circles to each "J" gave the impression of people and the multiple colors gave the impression of different races, people, cultures, or whatever you would like to call it. Basically the icon portion of the logo shows a group of people intertwined together as one." Alan said.

Joomla 1.0.1 was released as a stability release, which only contains fixes to bugs discovered in the 1.0.0 release. You can download you copy by visiting JoomlaForge
To update from Joomla! 1.0.0, all you have to do is simply overwrite your files with either the Full Package distribution, or the Patch Package distribution.

The osskins team has just redesigned their website and logo.
Osskins stands for open source skins and it's a project dedicated to producing quality templates for the Mambo and Joomla content management systems.
The team is celebrating the new launch by releasing three brand new templates (on top of the spanky new redesign). Two other templates are scheduled for publication soon. Check mambohut.com or osskins.com to find out when they will be ready for download.

Today, we released a new commercial business template for Mambo 4.5.1, 4.5.2 and Joomla 1.0.
The package includes four different colored templates, all optimized for screen resolutions of 1024x768px or more. The layout based on three colums, but the third colum disapears completely, if you did not publish any module on position "right". So you can use it as a two or three colum template , or as a mix of both layout variants.
The template comes with some additional, differend colored ad images (the big image with the baby...). Add some text to this images and publish it as a new module, or using the random image build-in module, on position "user1". These ad images are included as .jpg and as .psd.
