The wheels don't stop turning for long on the Mambo factory floor. The
Development and Maintenance team have discussed the goals for the next
release of Mambo.
Apart from continued vigilance on the bug fixing front, the following mini-goals are hoped to be achieved in 4.5.3:
- Translation of the Mambo Installation screens
- Translation of the Mambo Administrator
- Move towards a Mambelfish like framework to support content translation
- Improve the installer by allowing for upgrades to existing elements
- Implement dialog selections for large datasets (eg, user lists for sites with thousands of users).
- Incorporate ADODB to provide support for MySQL 4.1 on PHP5 and alternate database platforms in the future.
The following mini-goals are desirable for this version if time permits:
- Allow for the installer to handle bundled elements (eg, so you can install a component, template and module in one operation).
- Implement an install by FTP layer to help solve safe_mode problems.
This
information should be used as a guide only and planned work may be
bumped to future versions depending on circumstances. The anticipated
release time is late March to early April. A more accurate assessment
for a release date will be made as work progresses.
Progress of these and other items of a minor nature can be monitored on the mamboforge task tracker.
